How To Make Pom Poms - Easy Tutorial
Follow this simple tutorial to learn how to make a pom pom with just wool and a piece of card or paper. Once you learn this technique there are loads of pom pom crafts you can make!

To make pom poms you will need:
Step 1
Begin by cutting out a circle out of a sheet of thin card. The larger this circle, the larger your pom pom will be. Then cut a smaller hole in the centre of this circle, to form a donut shape. Trace around this shape on another sheet of thin card and cut out so you have two donut shapes.
Step 2
Cut a long piece of wool and fold it in half, and then fold it in half again - this is just to make the process of making the pom pom quicker. Start wrapping your wool around the card circle. Do this until the circle in the middle becomes to small to add any more wool.
Step 3
Hold the pom pom tightly and start to cut the wool around the edge. Cut the wool the whole way around the circle. Once this is done the wool will be loose so try not to let go of it.
Step 4
Cut another piece of wool, about 20cm long. Then wrap this around your pom pom in between the two pieces of card. Tie tightly in a double knot. Then rip off the pieces of card and throw them away.
Step 5
Trim your pom pom. Trimming the wool helps to give the pom pom a fuller look and will make it neater and more of a circular shape!
