Step 1
Draw the shape seen in the photo above onto the green felt six times and cut these shapes out (the shape should be approximately 10cm high). These will form the cactus. It helps to make a template first so all of the shapes are identical.
Step 2
Put two of the cactus shapes together and stitch around the outside using a blanket stitch. You can use another type of stitch, however I love the look of this one for the cactus craft because the stitches look like spikes! Make sure you leave the bottom of the shapes open.
Repeat this with the other cactus shapes so you end up with three.
Step 3
Put all three of the shapes on top of each other and stitch together right down the middle as seen above.
Then, stuff the cactus with the stuffing in all six of the openings at the bottom. Once this is done, stitch up the openings so the stuffing can't come out!
Step 4
To craft the cactus flower, cut six semi circles out of the pink felt. Sew these shapes together with the pink thread as seen in the image above. Then, roll them up from right to left, and sew into place so it doesn't unroll!
Step 5
Finally, sew the flower onto the cactus pin cushion. Paint the flowerpot if necessary to make it more colourful. Pop the cactus into the mini plant pot (glue it in if you don't want it to move, or leave it loose and keep spare pins and thread underneath!)
Now you have a fun quirky cactus to keep all of your pins in for your crafting needs!
